I would like to get married in Iowa can you help me?

Pastor Peg will gladly officiate on your special day

For couples out of state you may apply for your license application by mail. Notify the county recorder of your choice - they will mail you the application. You and your partner need to fill it out with one witness. Then you must have the application notarized. Typically the notary must witness the signatures. Mail it back to the county recorder, close to the date you plan on getting married (at least three days before you need it) This helps with the three day waiting period. Most judges will only waive the three days for medical reasons not because out of state. You can pick up your license to marry on the day you plan to wed or on a day close to your wedding date.

For Iowa residents the only way to bypass the three day waiting period is to have a judge sign a wavier. Most judges will only waive the three days for medical reasons not because you live too far away or are in a hurry.
The pastor will travel to your choice of county. Travel expense must be added on to her $100.00 fee to officiate. This travel expense of course depend on the length of travel.
For couples who would like to be married in our place of worship (First Christian Church, 25th & University) their fees follow:

 • $100.00 deposit (returned if no damage) required up front to hold the date
 • $100.00 chapel use
 • $100.00 Fellowship, Lounge area (used for reception - if desired)
 • $ 75.00 required staff - custodian ($25.00 an hour after initial $75.00)
